Overview

Twenty-nine states and the District of Columbia all have some form of cannabis legalization while eight of those states- Washington, Oregon, California, Nevada, Maine, Massachusetts, Alaska and Colorado- all have recreational marijuana programs. In the states with legalization that allows some form of commercial activity, licenses to operate are required. Many states have open application programs that are considered noncompetitive, like California and Oregon, while other states, like Florida and Ohio, have only a small number of licenses to operate being issued.

Our cannabis licensing team has filed thousands of applications in both competitive and noncompetitive states. By having dedicated drafting teams and institutional application experience, our licensing lawyers can help you submit the best possible application.

Because of Greenspoon Marder’s cross disciplinary approach our cannabis practice group can also provide assistance with all parts of the application and back end legal work including real estate, land use and corporate formation.
